Label TextThis print depicts the mountains near the Woodstock home of Barker's friend and mentor, the renowned lithographer Bolton Brown. Barker studied with Brown so that he could learn to print his own lithographs, something few artists did at that time. Here, Barker renders the details of the landscape visible despite the overall darkness. The subtly varying tones and thin lines demonstrate his consummate skill as a printer.
