Label TextA print from his Panorama of America series, this lithograph shows Schreiber's interest in the personalities of individual farm folk. This is the harsher side of American Scene art, which looked skeptically upon the realities of life for the working poor, yet frequently held them up as paragons of American toughness. This print was an Associated American Artists offering, another business venture that took prints out of the gallery and marketed them through department stores and direct-mail sales. The AAA presented this lithograph as one immigrant's impression of the strength of the American character.Exhibition HistoryCultivating America: Visions of the Landscape in Twentieth-Century Prints, Michael C.
