Label TextCheffetz took part in the early twentieth-century revival of wood engraving. His work is precise and intricate, using fine lines to describe the textures of the landscape. The distant perspective of this print gives equal weight to the sky and to the town and the gently rolling farmland that surrounds it. This print was published by the American Artists Group, which took part in the Depression movement to ¿democratize¿ art and find new patronage for artists. As is typical of AAG prints, it is unsigned and unnumbered. For art collectors who wanted a signed, limited edition print, Cheffetz, like some other AAG artists, also offered them in a slightly different format for eight to twelve dollars more.Exhibition HistoryCultivating America: Visions of the Landscape in Twentieth-Century Prints, Michael C.
