Label TextAlthough born in Chicago, Barker was raised in rural Pennsylvania, and many of his prints reflect his love of the small family farmsteads of that state. The lone tree nearly blocks the little house in the background, drawing attention to the dominance of the natural world over the man-made. Barker employs a series of quick, parallel lines in varying tones to capture the feel of an on-the-spot sketch.
