Label TextWeininger was very active in the theater workshop at the Bauhaus. His stage designs sought to transform abstract compositions into three-dimensional spaces that could be inhabited by figures. Along with this turn toward figurative art, a new interest in Surrealism marks Weininger's work during the years in Berlin. Dreamscapes and a mixture of figuration and abstraction dominate this part of his oeuvre. Eva's Birthday Card, made for the woman whom he was to marry in 1931, has a naive quality that may be related to the Surrealist celebration of children's and folk art.
