Label TextAngkor Wat is only the beginning. Tucked away in this region there are eight more such cities. I walked to them all today. Huge trees are growing from the tops of many a tower, while others have completely surrounded the monuments. I walked forty kilometers from one place to another. I saw lovely birds, parrots, etc. and hundreds of monkeys and gibbons.(Letter from Siemreap, Cambodia, February 4, 1937)
