Label TextIn a fashion typical of his prints, Jac Young has used a combination of etching and drypoint to build up the forms of nature. The trees in the foreground are delineated in the dark, feathery lines of drypoint, making them stand out in bold relief from the farmstead in the background. Young, born in Germany as Carl Jung, came to the U.S. as a small child. He trained as a painter at the New York Academy of Design, and later taught himself to etch. His prints are closely related to his paintings in their love of landscape, with trees and branches providing a sense of movement against the stillness of the earth.
