Label TextBeginning in the 4th Century CE, Christianity transformed religious life in Egypt. Temple-centered worship that had shaped Egyptian life for thousands of years gradually declined, and the use of hieroglyphs came to an end. Coptic communities and artistic traditions emerged across Egypt, shaped by traditions of the past.
