Label TextWhile the main seating for the audience was built of limestone, the front row was made up of thrones carved from Pentelic marble reserved for various dignitaries. The high priest's chair, inscribed with his title, was the most elaborately decorated. A scene showing two men clubbing griffins, monsters that were half lion and half eagle, is carved in relief below the seat.
