Label TextSymbolic of Dionysus, god of wine and theater, the cluster of grapes engraved on this gemstone suggests the potential for luxury adornment to liberate and transform the body of the wearer. Given its small size, it is plausible that the ring was worn by a woman, or even a child, for whom Dionysus’ capacity to release and reshape identity may have been especially appealing.
