Label TextThis portrait of a Ptolemaic queen may represent Arsinoe II (316-270 BCE), who was worshipped as a deity long after her death and whose image was widely replicated in sculpture, on coins, and on gems. Her hair is rolled in a low bun, and she wears a diadem and horned Isis crown, assimilating her to the goddess.
