Label TextThis headdress, made of a woven fiber cap with natural dark-colored feathers and magenta dyed feathers, is of a type worn in annual Grassfield dances by the village head leading members of the Leopard society. Such a hat could be easily followed by the other performers and by the accompanying musicians. These headdresses are made to fold inward for storage, forming compact bundles from which only the longest feathers protrude.
