Label TextFlat-bodied, plank-shaped ceramic figures were produced in Boeotia in the 6th century BCE. Seated figures with mold made heads such as this followed Attic prototypes and probably depict goddesses, either Demeter or Persephone, as indicated by the headdress (polos). The figure wears an applied s-shaped chest ornamented secured at either shoulder. Two applied rosettes adorn the chest. The arms are hand-modeled and rest on the figure's knees.
