Richard Albert Baker February 15, 1940 ~ September 16, 2008. Richard is from the Squamish Nation and of Kwak  wak awak descendant grew up on the Capilano Reserve in North Vancouver, BC, Canada. Richard grew up very proud of his Indigenous heritage, culture and way of life post-colonialism. Richard was an advisor carver of cedar wood creating ceremonial masks, totem poles and cedar plaques that were commissioned for potential buyers from around the world for example in Japan and Germany. Richard has 5 adult children two of which are also successful Northwest Coast Artists Richard Baker Jr and Matthew Baker. Richard was a full-time longshoreman and also work as a commercial fisherman.
