Label TextFigurines of domestic dogs become popular in the Middle Kingdom. The dog crouches playfully with its hindquarters raised and paws stretched forward. The dog's mottled coat is indicated by black spots on a blue faience body. The dog rests on a plinth which suggests it was a statuette, perhaps of the owner's pet canine.Exhibition HistoryMCCM Permanent Collection Reinstallation, 2006 - Present
