Label TextIntef strides forward, holding a staff to his body. He wears a shoulder length wig, a short nobleman's beard and a tripartitie kilt. The statue's narrow body and large head are characteristic of Second Intermediate Period, a time of decentralized authority in Egypt. A number of features recall the sculpture of Egypt's great periods, perhaps to link the owner to a more prosperous time. Intef's large ears and small mouth are features carried over from late 12th-13th Dynasty royal portraits. The staff held close to the body and wide back pillar are details found in Old Kingdom sculpture.|

Two columns of text on the back pillar read, "May he be buried nicely in his tomb of the necropolis, and may offerings be deposited for him during the Wag and Thoth festivals -- (namely) the sole companion and seal-bearer of the god, Intef".
